The Eiffel Excellence Scholarship Program
Developed by the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the France Excellence Eiffel scholarship program provides annual training for future foreign decision-makers in the public and private sectors, at Master's and PhD levels. Applications are submitted exclusively by French higher education establishments.

Presentation of the France Excellence Eiffel scholarship
The objectives of the program
The France Excellence Eiffel scholarship program is a tool developed by the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs to help French higher education establishments attract the best foreign students to master's and doctoral programs.
The program is designed to train future foreign decision-makers from the private and public sectors in priority fields of study, and to encourage applications from students from emerging countries at master's level, and from emerging and industrialized countries at doctorate level.
Fields of study
The two main disciplines covered by France Excellence Eiffel scholarships cover the following 7 fields of study for the Master's and Doctorate streams:
For science and technology :
- Biology and health
- Ecological transition
- Mathematics and Numeracy
- Engineering sciences
For humanities and social sciences :
- History, French language and civilization
- Law and political science
- Economics and management
Levels of study
French higher education establishments submitting candidates to the France Excellence Eiffel program undertake to enrol them :
- either in courses leading to a Master's degree ;
- an engineering degree
- or in a doctorate program under the joint supervision or co-direction of a thesis with a partner foreign higher education institution.
Duration of the scholarship
Master's level
The scholarship is awarded for :
- A maximum of 12 months for enrolment in M2 ;
- A maximum of 24 months for M1 students;
- 36 months maximum for an engineering degree.
Doctoral level
The France Excellence Eiffel scholarship is awarded for a period of 6 to 36 months maximum in France from September 1 of the year the scholarship is awarded, in accordance with the letter of award.
The services
Master's level
France Excellence Eiffel scholarship holders receive a monthly allowance of €1,181, plus direct payment for a number of services: international transport, national transport, insurance, accommodation, cultural activities, etc.
Doctoral level
France Excellence Eiffel scholarship holders receive a monthly allowance of €1,700, plus direct payment for a number of services: international transport, national transport, insurance, accommodation, cultural activities, etc.
For the 2 parts of the program, tuition fees are not covered by the France Excellence Eiffel program.
How to apply for the France Excellence Eiffel scholarship
Step 1
1) Contact the Espace Campus France in your home country, or the cooperation and cultural action department of the French embassy, which will be able to guide and advise you on your study project;
2) Contact the international relations department of a French establishment by visiting its website, by e-mail or by telephone, to find out how and when to apply to their department.
It's up to you to choose the school or university best suited to your plans to study in France.
All French higher education establishments are eligible to apply.
Step 2
The school accepts and supports your application for the France Excellence Eiffel scholarship
The establishment submits your application online, on the Campus France website.
Applications sent directly by students or by foreign institutions will be declared ineligible.
